At 7 am our group – Juli, Jean-Claude, Sam, Suezan, Lanie, Kimna, Panha and I – set off for the village of Kro Saing in Kandal Province. About an hour later we arrived and were greeted by EC Sophal, EC Narim, and three of the four girls CASF supports in this and a neighboring village. Juli first met with Sophal and Narim to find out how the students are doing in school.
Juli next interviewed Chanrany, Sokserey and Sophorn individually, asking them about their families, their studies, and their future plans. The 4th student from Kandal Province – Srey Oun – was busy taking an exam and not available today. It was great to hear that all girls are studying hard and taking advantage of after-school tutoring which CASF pays for.
We finished up our trip by driving to a school, which houses about 700 students from grade 7-12. It is here that two of our Kandal students attend high school. Juli was able to interview the principal and learn more about the education the students are receiving.
